Group Home Wrongful Death - Case No. CJ-2014-5408
In October 2016, attorneys Paul Harris and Kevin Coffey obtained a $7.2 million jury verdict in Oklahoma County in the wrongful-death case of Mitch Boles, a mentally impaired individual residing in a privately-run group home in Oklahoma City. After a week-long jury trial, an Oklahoma County jury found the group home negligent and responsible for the wrongful death of Mitch Boles. Child Abuse - Case No. CIV-15-271-L
In July 2016, attorneys Paul Harris and Kevin Coffey settled a failure to protect a child case against the State of Oklahoma-Department of Human Services in the amount of $250k. The child was abused by her mother and mother’s boyfriend over the course of several years while under the supervision of DHS. Uninsured Nursing Home Case - Case No. CIV-13-665-M
In January 2016, attorneys Paul Harris and Kevin Coffey obtained verdicts in a jury trial in excess of $1.5 million against a former nursing-home owner who fraudulently transferred the proceeds from the sale of an uninsured nursing home instead of paying the claims of injured residents. Nursing Home Abuse - Case No. CIV-13-364-M
In February 2015, attorneys Paul Harris and Kevin Coffey obtained a jury verdict in the amount of $1.2 million for the abuse of a nursing-home resident. This abuse included a nurse aide forcefully stuffing a rubber glove into a resident’s mouth and slapping the resident. Nursing Home Abuse Case No. CJ-2011-10045
In March 2014, attorneys Paul Harris and Kevin Coffey obtained a jury verdict in the amount of $4.5 million against a nursing home and its owner for the wrongful death of a resident. In August 2013, attorney Paul Harris in association with Seminole attorney Jerry Colclazier, settled a failure to protect children case against the State of Oklahoma-Department of Human Services in the amount of $350k. The children were abused, and one eventually killed, by her step-mother over the course of several years while under the supervision DHS.
